Neurofeedback, also known as EEG Biofeedback, is brain wave training. Neuroscience has shown that our brains are capable of change throughout our entire lives. With neurofeedback, we train the brain to work in a more efficient way.
Remote neurofeedback is a convenient option for those who cannot make it into the office 2-3 times a week. We walk you through the set-up, allowing you to train in the comfort of your own home.
Remote neurofeedback training is not covered by insurance and is a self-pay service.
Neurofeedback is a safe, effective, and medication-free option, that has been shown to improve symptoms of:
We know that there are other providers of remote neurofeedback. Before choosing a provider, ask a few questions:
Do they perform a QEEG brain map to develop a personalized neurofeedback plan based on what your would benefit your brain, or are they guessing what your brain needs based on symptoms?
Are they board certified in Neurofeedback?
Do they hold diplomate status in QEEG analysis?
At the Center for NeuroPotential, Dr. Amy Palmer is board certified in neurofeedback and earned her diplomat certification in QEEG analysis. She integrates clinical information with QEEG results to develop a training protocol that is specific to YOU and your unique brain.
Clinical Interview: We meet with you to identify your challenges and discuss the process of neurofeedback. We also administer rating scales to measure symptoms and identify treatment goals.
Brain Mapping: A Quantitative EEG (Assessment) measures your brain wave activity and patterns, creating a brain map. The result of this brain map determines the neurofeedback training protocol, which identifies what brain activity we want to reinforce.
Train the Brain – We walk you through the process of how to run neurofeedback sessions from home. Train up to five days a week, when it’s convenient for you!
Clinical Check-ins: We check in with you every week to see how you are doing and do a more in-depth meeting (over Zoom) once a month to review your progress.
Repeat QEEGs: After a month or two of neurofeedback training, a repeat QEEG may be needed to develop new training protocols for your next phase of neurofeedback.
Schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation to find out if remote neurofeedback is a good option for you or your child.
Meet with a clinician for an intake to review your history and goals in more detail. Complete a QEEG brain map and symptom questionnaires to assess your brain function.
Train your brain up to five times a week with a personalized neurofeedback training protocol. Train where and when you want to.
Brief weekly check-ins are done by email, phone, or Zoom. A 30-minute monthly Zoom appointment is scheduled so you we can review your progress in detail.
We use the BrainBit Flex, which allows us to train up to four sites at once.
Our clients describe the setup of placing the electrodes in the correct spots as being very easy. Many clients report being able to get a good signal within a few minutes. We provide tips for getting a good signal and are available via Zoom to help troubleshoot if needed.
We recommend 4-6 times a week, with each session lasting approximately 25 minutes (including setup). For those that can only train 2-3 times a week, we extend the training time, and each session lasts approximately 40 minutes. To optimize results, you should plan on at least a 3-month commitment.
The initial set up fee is $1500, which includes the BrainBit Flex device, an abbreviated intake, and either a QEEG in our office or an abbreviated TheraQ assessment done at home with the device. The set up fee also includes a verbal review of the QEEG or TheraQ results. After that, we charge $750 a month. This fee includes development of neurofeedback protocols specific to your brain and goals, regular telehealth check-ins with Dr. Palmer, and monitoring of session quality and results several times a week by Dr. Palmer and staff.
Unfortunately, insurance companies do not cover remote neurofeedback. If we are in-network with your Husky, Cigna, or Aetna plan, we can get coverage for the intake and telehealth check-ins, which would reduce (but not eliminate) your costs. Please contact our office for more information.
